Actions for Week of December 15, 2019

Monday, December 16
KEEP UP THE IMPEACHMENT PRESSURE

The House Judiciary has approved two articles of impeachment against Trump. That’s just the first step.  We have to keep the pressure on through the whole process of approval by the House and then on to the Senate.

Call Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney’s office, thank her for her support, and urge her to keep it up. Her NYC office is  (212) 860-0606

CLIMATE CHANGE FUNDING

The climate change bill NY State just passed is historic. But it's useless without money to back it up. State Senate leaders are meeting this week to discuss climate change funding. Call Liz Krueger and tell her to support this critical action!

POSTCARDS TO VOTERS!
Le Pain Quotidien (88th and Lexington)

Postcards to voters is a friendly way to remind people to vote for Democrats in upcoming elections (both large and small). They provide addresses and supplies. Or, you can sign up at the link to do it at home.

****RALLY TO IMPEACH!***
Times Square
5:30 PM

Rally and march before the House formally votes to impeach on Dec. 18. There are over 500 events currently planned nationwide. Because we fought a war to get rid of a monarchy.  America doesn't have a king: nobody is above the law.

We will meet at 5 PM at the 2nd Avenue Subway stop on 86th Street (Northeast corner, in front of the CVS Pharmacy sign) to go downtown together.

Wednesday, December 11
TELL CUOMO TO SIGN THE CLIMATE JUSTICE BILL

The Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act does not become law until Cuomo signs a second bill to create a permanent environmental justice advisory group. If it's not signed before the new year, the whole thing gets delayed until January 2021!

Call Cuomo and tell him to immediately sign Senate Bill S2385 so that the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act can take effect: (212) 681-4580 or 518-474-8390.

Thursday, December 19
RALLY IN DC

If you can, join By the People on December 19 in DC to demand that the Senate remove Trump (more details and signup at the link).

There’s also a plan to go back in January when the Senate reconvenes to urge a fair trial (not the sham Moscow Mitch is planning). More details at Remove45.org.

DEMOCRATIC DEBATE

Finally, there is supposed to be a Democratic debate today. However, a union at the venue is having a dispute with management, and may picket. None of the candidates will cross a picket line. The DNC says they are trying to find a solution.
