Actions for Week of April 19, 2020
Help flip GA Senators, texting training, absentee voting for all, and a COVID-19 town hall

NO EXCUSE ABSENTEE PRIMARY BALLOT
We now have no-excuse absentee voting for the June primary (no word yet on November). Everyone who wants to may apply for an absentee ballot on the Board of Election website. The official notice is on the BOE home page, and you can use this form.
Check the box for “Temporary illness or physical disability” and there’s no need to go anywhere or do anything in person. You can apply by mail, email, or fax and return the form by mail.
No affidavit required unless you cannot write, see, or sign for yourself.
Applications must be mailed seven days before the election, or hand-delivered to your county board of elections by the day before the election.
CALL VOTERS IN GEORGIA
Both of Georgia’s Senators are up for election this year. They’re both awful and one is arguably corrupt as well. We have a chance to beat them and send them packing. We can’t vote there, but we can call people who can and urge them to register and vote in November.

Sunday, April 26

Learn how to start texting with Indivisible’s texting tools. We want to get out the vote, recruit people, and support progressive candidates. The goal is to send 10 million texts before Election Day. Check out our texting schedule to see which races are most important. Note that both training sessions will cover the same material. Pick the day/time that’s best for you.

Today is Earth Day. Why should we care about climate change now? Because the virus has exposed fractures and inequalities which will only get worse if we allow climate disruption to go unchecked. Tell our state and local reps we want action!

SHOPPING HELP
If you can't get out to shop, or you're afraid to go out, there are volunteers who will help you. NYC and its suburbs normally has plenty of grocery delivery options, but getting one now is extremely difficult (I’ve been trying for my mom in Westchester, without much luck). Sign up at the link for assistance.
FEED OTHERS
Hot food for first responders
Buy hot food for first responders in NY. It helps them, and it helps the local restaurants too.
Help food trucks feed NYU Langone
NY’s food trucks are also coordinating delivering food and snacks to NYU Langone.
HELP FIND A COVID CURE
Folding at Home
Be a scientist while you sleep! This app runs on your computer while you're not using it, and looks for potential therapies to help cure COVID-19 as well as other diseases. If you remember SETI@home, this is the same principle. Lots of small computers working together on a problem instead of one big one.
